Welcome to My Blog!

Hello, my name is Heather Leggett. I’m basically just a big goofball at heart (yeah the photos basically say it all, haha). My photography journey started when I was very young. I grew up with five brothers and a family that wasn’t that into taking pictures. We had one album that covered most of mine and my brothers’ childhoods and even that ended up getting damaged in a house fire when I was 14. It always bothered me that my parents didn’t take more photographs, because to me every day seemed like a time to make a memory and savor the experiences of our lives. So I decided to take over being the family photographer. At 11 years old I bought my first camera with my own money I’d saved and I have been taking pictures ever since. It makes me happy that my younger brothers have some childhood photos to look back on and share with their friends and family and ultimately pass on to their children.

Me goofing off!

Now that I’m a mother of four, I love taking pictures of my own children. I want to capture every moment of their childhood so they can have lots of memories to look back on as they get older and someday share with their children.

Being a photographer is such a joy. I love being able to peek into the lives of my clients and capture a little bit of what makes you and your family unique and special and to preserve your memories for you to look back on for years to come.

My style is candid and relaxed. I use only Canon professional equipment and lenses as well as natural light for a more natural look and feel to your photographs. I prefer shooting at outdoor locations or in your home because it helps tell YOUR story, catching those moments of you and your family playing and having fun doing what you love. If you don’t have particular locations in mind I would be happy to suggest some.

Enjoy my blog! Feel free to leave a comment or contact me for more questions or to book a session.

A bit of an update

So sorry I’ve been MIA for a couple of weeks! I helped out a friend babysitting her two nephews along with her two kids I was already watching, then both our families got sick, then right after we got better we had to get ready and go on a four day trip. Busy, busy, crazy, crazy!

Here’s a few pics to catch you up on what we’ve been up to. We had a nice little hike to Steelhead Falls the other day. We went in the evening, close to sunset, so it was nice and cool. Perfect for hiking in the summer. The falls were beautiful and the kids loved it! It was about a mile round trip so it was just right for all of us to handle.

Ashlynn didn’t want to look at the camera so Daisy popped her head up in her place, haha.

Loved this cute shot of our pooch Daisy as she was gazing at the sunset. :P

Here’s a shot of the falls. It’s a beautiful horseshoe shaped waterfall. I wish I could have gotten more of it in but I didn’t have a wide enough lens on me and I didn’t feel like hiking further down the trail for a better shot, it was getting dark fast and we were in a canyon! LOL Next time we will go a little earlier so I can go down the trail a little further for my shots!

I have more to update you on, but I will have to save the rest for tomorrow. I need to get some sleep! :)

Family BBQ

I had an awesome time at a family bbq tonight!! My Uncle Gary and Aunt Vicki were in town from Colorado so we had a family bbq at my Aunt Shirley’s house. It was so fun and so nice to see everyone! There were three of my aunts and three of my uncles there along with my mom, my brother, my grandma, and of course Curtis and the kids. We had a blast playing “Duck, Duck, Goose” with the kids, haha, and they loved haveing the adults chasing after them! I wish I would have gotten more pics but it was getting dark by the time we headed outside. Here’s a couple cute shots of my grandma with my mom’s dog Whistle and a beautiful sunset pic (for you Aunt Shirley!!).

Staircase Sleepers

The other night Curtis and I were watching a movie downstairs after we had put all the kids to bed. After the movie I started to head upstairs when I came upon a little staircase sleeper on the bottom step…

I went to get Curtis, who was still downstairs, to show him. When I came back over to the stairs to show him I realized we had another staircase sleeper…

My silly girls!! For some reason they never want to sleep in their bedroom, even though they share it together. They always end up on our floor, in our bed, or in the boys’ room somewhere, lol. Here’s the view from the top of the stairs.

Welcome to my NEW blog!!

Thanks for checking out my new blog! I’m excited about it! I moved my other posts over so you wouldn’t miss anything from the old blog.

To kick things off here’s a few new pics from a mini session I did with my almost 6 yr old son Kaelan! He’s going to be 6 in just TWO WEEKS!! I can’t believe it!! I wanted to get some more shots of his gap toothed smile before it was gone. The bigger teeth are already coming in!! Doesn’t childhood just go by so fast? It seems like only yesterday he was cutting his first teeth!

Another from last night

Did a little cross processing with this one. I loved how the light was shining through the leaves.

Leaves & Berries

I was making some food in the kitchen and when I went to the sink to wash my hands I saw how golden and glowy the light was. Perfect for photography. These berries grow on a tree right outside our kitchen window so they were the perfect subject. I had to stop preparing my dinner to go take some photographs!
